PARENTS CIRCLE

PARENTS

ABOUT

The purpose of the Parent Circle is to develop community and facilitate involvement in Raleigh Oak Charter School’s life and culture. This all-volunteer, parent-led organization’s mission is to foster the well-being of the school community by facilitating communications among all stakeholders, inspiring parent participation in school life and organizing their collective efforts in line with the school’s mission and vision.

The Parent Circle will seek to be a channel through which parents can direct their ideas and skills, nurture their self-development, and constructively communicate concerns.

All parents, guardians and family members of children currently enrolled at Raleigh Oak Charter School are automatically considered members of the Parent Circle along with current administrators, teachers and staff. Each member is welcomed as a valuable contributor to the mission and goals of the organization.

,OUR COMMITTEES

Within our larger Parent Circle, we have five committees that are each responsible for certain projects during the school year.  Wondering which committee is the best fit for your skills and interests?  Here are some examples of the projects each committee plans and executes.

  • Heads: organizes events around parent education, larger community-based volunteer opportunities, and coordinates the food pantry and lost and found.
  • Hearts: fosters community by organizing staff luncheons, gifts, and teacher appreciation activities, in addition to meet-ups for families such as the Crafting Circle, school-wide playdates, and end-of-year celebration.
  • Hands: facilitates volunteer efforts related to general upkeep of the school building and its grounds.
  • Fundraising: organizes activities (craft markets, raffles, and other organized fundraisers) to collect funds to support the work of Parent Circle.
  • Room Parents:  Room Parent volunteers work directly with the teacher in their child’s class to provide support, logistical assistance and communication with families of children in the same class.

MEETINGS

We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room at ROCS.  We will also accommodate virtual attendance via Google Meet to allow as many families to participate as possible.  These meetings are informal and we welcome parent input and feedback.  Click here to join virtually: http://meet.google.com/tai-vksq-ffx
