BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OUR SCHOOLRaleigh Oak Charter School is governed by its own Board of Directors (BOD) composed of highly-qualified members dedicated to the mission of the school. The BOD is the exclusive governing body of the charter school and is responsible for ensuring student and organizational success. The BOD delegates authority to the Executive Team for all aspects of school operations and management.
Board Meetings
The Board of Directors meets the last Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm as per their bylaws. All meetings are held at the school. Non-Board Members (parents of students, teachers, etc.) are welcome to attend the meeting and listen. Each meeting’s agenda can be accessed via the Upcoming Meeting Agenda link under Quick Links above. Subcommittee Meetings

The Facilities Committee is an ad-hoc meeting that will occur as necessary. Announcements about these meetings will be made following NC Open Meeting Law requirements.
MEET OUR BOARD MEMBERS
JEREMY ALTFEDER
Chair
Jeremy comes to the Board of Raleigh Oak as the proud father of two ROCS students. Jeremy is a Financial Advisor with CAPTRUST Financial Advisors and brings over 15 years of financial experience into his role as Co-Chair. Atlanta native born-and-raised, Jeremy earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. Jeremy holds his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and specializes working with high net worth individuals, business owners, executives and multi-generational trusts. In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, seeing live music and traveling. Jeremy is honored to be serving on the Board of ROCS and is excited to provide financial oversight in the complicated Charter School landscape.
ROXANNE BELLAMY
Vice Chair
Roxanne is a mother and wife for her two favorite people in the universe. She came to ROCS after watching her child’s rough transition to traditional kindergarten after two transformative years at a Waldorf-inspired preschool. Roxanne holds an M.Phil. from Cambridge University in England and a B.A. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill, but she is most proud of her son’s home birth, 4 years of breastfeeding, 10 years of marriage, and nearly 20 marathons.
ALICIA WHITNEY
Secretary
Alicia works in Compliance and Operational Risk Management at Bank of America. She earned her MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Alicia is the mother of two young children. She had incredibly nurturing elementary school teacher for a mom and has gained international development experience that allowed her to witness the life-changing power of education first-hand. With this foundation, a passion for equity in education has been an undercurrent of her volunteer work. She believes that every child deserves the same access to high quality educational opportunities like the one Raleigh Oak Charter School provide.
CLAIRE JENKINS PORTER
Board Member
Claire Jenkins Porter has served students, parents, teachers and communities for over 20 years in many capacities: as a grant recipient to teach English in France, as a middle and high school French teacher, as a Principal, a central office Director of Secondary Education, as a consultant in the Office of Charter Schools, and as a founding Principal/Board Member for Raleigh Oak Charter School. Claire currently works for an educational management organization, CSUSA, and heads up school support and compliance for them in the state of North Carolina and strongly advocates for school choice. Claire holds a J.D. from Tulane University School of Law, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Iowa State University, and B.A. degrees in French Language & Literature and Art History from Smith College.
Claire is also an attorney and mediator who practiced law for several years in Virginia prior to returning to the field of education. Claire grew up overseas in a Foreign Service family and brings strong cultural competency skills and a global outlook. Claire, her husband Stephen, and children, Nicholas & Grace, both charter school graduates, are proud to call north Raleigh home. In her free time, Claire enjoys being surrounded by family and friends, reading and writing, hiking, the arts, time in nature, and baking. Claire is delighted to serve Raleigh Oak Charter School again as a board member.
ROMARIC DAUTUN
Treasurer
Romaric comes to ROCS as a North Carolina State alumni, born and raised in the Champagne region of France, and currently residing on a small farm in Pittsboro. Romarics’ household consists of a superhero wife, three ROCS daughters (two of them twins!), a new baby boy, a huge Great Pyrenees, two cats, three pigs, four ducks, and 30+ chickens. After a successful career on Wall Street, Romaric and his family relocated to North Carolina and currently works with CAPTRUST as an Investment Manager overseeing the Trading Desk for the firm. Romaric is the current holder of a Series 7 FINRA license and brings 15 years of financial experience to the ROCS family. Romaric and his wife Charity are makers in their spare time and love to create new things while involving their children in all sorts of manual and outdoor projects.
